*How to Calculate Mulank and Bhagyank in Numerology





Numerology uses your birth date to reveal personality traits and life patterns. The two most important numbers are *Mulank* and *Bhagyank*. Mulank reflects your core personality and natural tendencies, while Bhagyank represents your life path, opportunities, and destiny.


1. Calculating Mulank (Root Number)


Mulank is derived from your *date of birth* only. It’s also called the Birth Number.


*Method:*

- Take the day of your birth.

- If it’s a single digit 1-9, that’s your Mulank.

- If it’s a two-digit number, add the two digits together until you get a single digit.


*Example:*

If you were born on *18th April 1995*:

- Day = 18

- 1 + 8 = 9

- *Mulank = 9*


If you were born on *7th July 1988*:

- Day = 7

- *Mulank = 7* [already a single digit]


Note: Some numerologists treat 11 and 22 as master numbers and don’t reduce them further, but the most common practice is to reduce to 1-9.


2. Calculating Bhagyank (Destiny/Life Path Number)


Bhagyank is calculated from the *complete date of birth* - day, month, and year.


*Method:*

- Write out the full date in digits: DD + MM + YYYY.

- Add all the digits together.

- Keep adding until you arrive at a single digit between 1-9.


*Example:*

Using the same birth date *18th April 1995*:

- Day = 18 → 1 + 8 = 9

- Month = 04 → 0 + 4 = 4  

- Year = 1995 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 24 → 2 + 4 = 6

- Now add: 9 + 4 + 6 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1

- *Bhagyank = 1*


*Another Example:*

Birth date *29th December 2000*:

- Day = 29 → 2 + 9 = 11 → 1 + 1 = 2

- Month = 12 → 1 + 2 = 3

- Year = 2000 → 2 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 2

- Now add: 2 + 3 + 2 = 7

- *Bhagyank = 7*


3. Why Both Numbers Matter


- *Mulank* shows who you are at your core - your natural strengths, habits, and approach to life.

- *Bhagyank* shows the path life is likely to offer you - the lessons, opportunities, and external circumstances you’ll encounter.


When Mulank and Bhagyank are compatible, a person often feels aligned and flows more easily with life. When they differ, it can create inner tension but also growth through balance.


*Quick Tip:* Always reduce to a single digit unless you specifically follow the master number system for 11, 22, or 33.


That’s it - just your birth date and some simple addition. Once you have both numbers, you can look up their traits to get deeper insight into personality and life direction.
